The General Skilled Migration program was designed by the Australian government (Skill select) in 2013 to replace the Australia skilled worker visas. It evaluates the skills of applicants under a point-based system to appoint immigrants with the right skills and qualifications. The applicants are given points under the following criteria:

1. The applicants between the ages of 25 and 32 score the most points while those above 45 do not gain any points.

2.The applicants are required to take the IELTS test. If they score 8 bands or more, you get 20 points.

3. If the applicant has experience in an occupation listed in the Skilled Occupations List you will get points based on the years of experience, 20 being the maximum points you can gain.

4. The applicants can gain points if they have an educational qualification related to your nominated occupation. 20 points is the maximum you can score if you have a doctorate while a bachelor’s or master’s degree will give you 15 points.

5. The applicant can get five points if you have an Australian qualification from an Australian educational institute.

6. The applicant can gain an additional 5 points if you have lived and studied in regional Australia.

  • Regional Sponsor Migration Scheme(subclass 187) enables skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer in regional Australia, live and work in Australia permanently.

  • Skilled Regional Visa(subclass 887) for people who have lived and worked in specified areas of regional Australia on a previous, eligible visa.
  • Work and holiday visa (subclass 462) and Working holiday visa(subclass 417) for young adults who want an extended holiday and to work in Australia to fund it.

  • Temporary work (international relations) visa (subclass 403)- Pacific Labour Scheme allows lets you come to Australia to participate in the Pacific Labour Scheme program.

Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (subclass 482) enables an employer sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position they can’t find a suitably skilled Australian to fill.

 

Temporary Graduate visa(subclass 485)- Post-Study Work Stream for holders of a first Temporary Graduate visa in the post-study work stream who graduated with a degree from an Australian institution located in a regional area, it allows them to temporarily live, work and study in Australia.

 

Skilled-Recognised Graduate visa (subclass 476) allows recent engineering graduates to live, work or study in Australia for up to 18 months. You must have completed a degree or higher qualification from a specified institution within the past 2 years, and be under 31 years of age.

Regional Sponsor Migration Scheme (subclass 187) enables skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer in regional Australia, live and work in Australia permanently.

 

Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 887) for people who have lived and worked in specified areas of regional Australia on a previous, eligible visa.

 

Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) allows skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer, live and work in Australia permanently.

 

Skilled Independent visa(subclass 189) for invited workers and New Zealand citizens with skills Australia needs, to live and work permanently anywhere in Australia.

 

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) allows nominated skilled workers live and work in Australia as permanent residents.

 

Global Talent visa(subclass 858) for people who have an internationally recognized record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in an eligible field.
